Live (song)

From Big Brother USA

Jump to: navigation, search

"Live" was the theme song to Big Brother 2000, sung by Jonathan Clarke. The melody was identical to that of Big Brother's original Netherlands counterpart, with the lyrics translated to English and re-written to suit English sentence structure. An instrumental version was also produced, and a soft-jazz version was orchestrated to serve as the theme song to the season. The lyrical version was used (briefly) during the closing credits. The song was available commercially on the Dutch Big Brother soundtrack, along with the first season theme songs from the Netherlands, Germany, Argentina, and Brazil.

[edit] Lyrics

Everyone is looking for some tenderness.

No one's born to live this life alone.

Everyone is special, special in their own way.

Everyone is looking for the guiding hand

Cause we all love to stay alive.

Everyone is searching for the diamond inside.

Live, 'cause we're living today

Feel the thrill of life and don't be afraid

Live, be a part of the chain

The chain that can tie us together again

Everyone's the center of their universe

Everyone is born a lonely star

No one can be perfect

We can only be who we are

Live, 'cause we're living today

Feel the thrill of life and don't be afraid

Live, be a part of the chain

The chain that can tie us together again

We criticize each other

when we should be building bridges.

We are so judgmental

to the people on the streets

Where life is not worth living

where there's no one you can turn to

So we should be building bridges

for the sake of you and me...

Live, 'cause we're living today

Feel the thrill of life and don't be afraid

Live, be a part of the chain

The chain that can tie us together again...

Everyone is looking for some tenderness...

[edit] HouseGuests' Version

As one of the weekly challenges, the HouseGuests were given the instrumental version of the song, and asked to write their own lyrics (a task set on other international versions as well). Their version, called "Into Our Lives," was (as expected) mediocre at best. After the task, producers played the real lyrics out to them. HouseGuest Eddie declared sullenly afterwards, "I liked our version better!"
