The red unitard is a recurring element of Big Brother game play since Big Brother 8. It is generally given to a HouseGuest as a booby prize during Power of Veto competitions. Its surprising popularity among fans during its debut led to it being the subject of several 'Would you rather?' HoH Competition questions and appearances on subsequent seasons.

Its first appearance was during the second week of Season 8. Jen acquired the one-piece outfit as a 'Christmas' present during a Veto competition. She had to wear the unitard, and only the unitard, for an entire week. Jen appeared to rather enjoy the outfit, and asked to keep it once the week ended.

Season 9 HouseGuest Sheila won her red unitard in Week 4 in another Veto competition. She was also instructed to wear the garment for an entire week.

The unitard showed up once more, and earned 'game element' status during Big Brother 10, when in Week 4 of that season, Michelle won the prized one-piece and one-week fashion sentence.
